 La
presente propuesta de ley es el producto
final del proyecto GUA/02/G21 “Desarrollo
del Marco Nacional de Seguridad de la
Biotecnología para Guatemala”,
ejecutado por el Consejo Nacional de Áreas
Protegidas -CONAP- a través de
la Oficina Técnica de Biodiversidad
-OTECBIO-, financiado por el Fondo Mundial
para el Medio Ambiente (GEF por sus siglas
en Inglés) y el Programa de Naciones
Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA).
El período de ejecución
del proyecto fue de noviembre del 2002

Continuando
con el proceso de fortalecimiento de
la capacidad interinstitucional para
implementar en Colombia el protocolo
de Cartagena, el Sistema de información
sobre Biodiversidad de Colombia (SIB)
ha venido trabajando con información
sobre organismos genéticamente
modificados (OGM) y sus parientes silvestres.
Para esta segunda etapa del proceso se
realizó la búsqueda y estructuración
de información de registros existentes
de dos especies de importancia económica:
maíz (Zea mays) y arroz
(Oryza sativa) y sus parientes silvestres.

organisms (LMOs), and on socioeconomic
considerations; and adopted most decisions
